You can sort SULFUR loot into six practical groups: equipment, weapons, weapon upgrades, healing supplies, valuables, and Stamps. These groups help you decide what deserves your inventory space. You find loot in chests, on enemies, inside breakable objects, and lying around stages. Start with each item's use below, then check its available loot source.
| Item or group | What you use it for | Where you find it |
|---|---|---|
| Armor — best armor | Protection and stat changes; Ballistic Vest offers protection and moving accuracy without reducing movement speed. | Red Loot Chests guarantee random headwear, bodywear, or footwear; Brown Loot Chests can drop common equipment. |
| Passive Equipment | Additional bonuses across four slots, without durability or repair costs. | Black Guild Cardinals can drop it. |
| Firearms | Your main weapons for damaging enemies. | Black Loot Chests guarantee a random firearm; you can also buy weapons from vendors. |
| Food and ingredients | Restore health; cooking ingredients together improves healing. | Brown Loot Chests, vendors, and cooking stations. |
| Essence | Charge The Amulet so you can return to the Church. | Shrines, usually near a region's midpoint; Gravekeeper and Fex Shuen also sell Amulet refills. |
| Organs | Ingredients for cooking recipes. | Shoot enemies, or shoot corpse hitboxes that have not already dropped an organ. |
| Attachments | Modify weapon behavior; you can equip one attachment per category. | Loot, including boss rewards. |
| Oils and Scrolls | Oils modify weapon stats; Scrolls change weapon behavior. | Loot, vendors, and bosses. |
| Chamber Chisel kits | Change a weapon's ammunition caliber. | Area stages and vendors, including Ralphie. |
| Stamps | Give Arthur Stamps for permanent Church storage and service upgrades. | Spend them with Arthur at the Church. |
| The Cost | A valuable with a sell value of 400; it occupies a 1×2 inventory grid. | Town's Cardinal arena, and boss rewards such as Desert Claus's presents. |
| SULF coins | Pay for purchases and services, including repairs. | Interact with cash registers for guaranteed coins. |
What does each loot chest contain?
Red Loot Chests guarantee wearable equipment, Black Loot Chests guarantee firearms, and Brown Loot Chests have a broader pool.
| Container | What you can expect |
|---|---|
| Brown Loot Chest | Common equipment and other items, including food and ingredients. |
| Red Loot Chest | A random piece of headwear, bodywear, or footwear. |
| Black Loot Chest | A random firearm of any quality. |
| Cash register | SULF coins whenever you interact with it. |
| Barrels, pottery, and boxes | A chance of loot when you break them. |
You can find loot chests in most area stages. These chest types identify broad pools, rather than guaranteed named items.
Which gear should you keep?
Keep gear you can use and repair, and compare its bonuses before replacing what you wear.
You have a head slot, a chest slot, and a separate slot for each foot. Equipment can improve protection, status resistance, or movement speed, but some pieces also reduce stats. Your four Passive Equipment slots add bonuses without needing repairs.
Armor loses its protection and bonuses when durability reaches zero. It remains repairable, so you can use repair consumables or pay Ralphie instead of discarding it.
For weapon upgrades, check weapon attachments before committing to a replacement. You must pay Ralphie to remove an attachment before replacing it with another from the same category. Oils also increase weapon wear, so account for repair needs when keeping an upgraded gun.
Which supplies are worth carrying home?
Keep supplies with a use you need: healing, cooking, repairs, weapon changes, or permanent Church upgrades.
For healing items, compare health restored, healing time, and inventory space. Many raw ingredients heal little alone; cooking and crafting can turn them into more effective food. Successfully cooking a dish permanently unlocks its recipe. You can also loot recipes and cookbooks.
Organs belong with your cooking supplies. Melee damage never makes organs drop, but shooting an eligible corpse can still provide one.
Stamps have a permanent purpose: Arthur exchanges them for Church storage and service upgrades. The Church also lets you store equipment, trade, and arrange repairs.
The Cost is a valuable with a listed sell value of 400. Its description concerns using another person's pure soul to pass through Heaven's gates.
Before planning a return, check The Amulet: it needs a full charge to take you back to the Church. You can refill it at a shrine or pay Gravekeeper or Fex Shuen 1,000 Sulf.
